Having a guide through the increasingly complex and convoluted realm of college admissions was without a doubt essential for me to get to where I am. The exacting nature of Allyson’s tasks, the constant double or triple checking, and the revisions can be tough at times, but it is really necessary for you to be able to pursue your dream school. She definitely drove me to work harder on the application process as well by setting early but attainable deadlines for application work that needed to be completed. All this ensured I was always ahead of where I needed to be. Especially with the personal essay and supplements, she is a big help in making sure that not only does the essay do well in an admissions office, but also that it is something that you personally connect with. Also, the connections she has in the SAT/ACT test prep world were very helpful for me. All in all, I wouldn’t have had such a methodical college application process without her, and I highly recommend Allyson’s services for anyone who is looking to get into top-tier schools.
Wilson J., Pawling HS, New York, Class of 2025, Bentley University Honors Program, Scholarship Recipient, Class of 2029
Growing up I always heard about how hard the college process was. Between the ACT/SAT, the big college essay, or applying to colleges and writing supplements, all the steps sounded so difficult. I had no idea what the college essay was going to be like to write. I remember meeting with Allyson and talking about some topics, I thought I could share with colleges. She told me to answer some questions about one of the topics. Although I was slightly confused about why I had to answer her questions, I gave her my full trust and did so. Just after that, after one quick revision, I had a solid draft of the long-dreaded essay everyone talks about. Allyson makes this process so much easier than I could have ever imagined, and she makes it feel like you are the only student she is working with because of how flexible she is. She was never afraid to tell me when I should change something, or even if I should completely abandon certain writing. I could never imagine doing this whole process without her by my side. So, Allyson - thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you did during this time. You are the best!
Craig (CJ) S., Irvington HS, NY, Class of 2025, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Class of 2029
Throughout the entire college application process, Allyson was the heartbeat that kept the process, more specifically, me, moving. She gave me incredible feedback on essays, impactful assistance on my college application portfolio, and set proper deadlines for my work. She helped me come up with ideas, revision tips, and edit suggestions on my personal statement and college supplements which enhanced the quality of my writing. She was a friendly face as well, someone who I felt comfortable talking to and someone I could be honest with about my feelings throughout the process. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to work with Allyson and would enthusiastically recommend her to anyone who needs expert counseling, advice and support throughout the college planning and application process.
Alex S., Irvington HS, NY, Class of 2025, University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business, Canfield Business Honors Program, Multiple Scholarship Recipient, Class of 2029
Working with Allyson throughout this entire process has been incredibly helpful. From the beginning, she helped me stay organized, calm, and focused during a time in which many struggle and often times feel extremely overwhelmed. She spent countless hours working with me on my essays, which forced me to strive to be better with my writing, and in turn, made me express myself more clearly in the essays that would define my future. Her feedback was always thoughtful but also specific, and she worked with me through multiple drafts of my essays until everything felt right and they truly expressed who I was and why these schools should accept me. She allowed me to find my voice in my writing and made sure everything I wrote expressed that voice. I am forever grateful for her encouragement and expertise. I truly could not have done it without her.
Eric A., Dobbs Ferry HS, New York, Class of 2025, University of Maryland, College Park, Class of 2029
Though the college process has its ups and downs, Allyson was consistent in helping me get into college. Reassuring me along the way, I got into most of the schools I applied to, including some reaches. As someone who needs a bit of a push to meet deadlines, Allyson knew the right balance of praise and feedback that would lead to my success. You can tell she's a professional and knowledgeable in the field. I would highly recommend Allyson if you are willing to fully commit and excel in the application process.
Josh L., Irvington HS, New York, Class of 2025, University of Michigan, Class of 2029
At our first meeting with Allyson, we were blown away by the amount of knowledge she had about the college process. We were also extremely impressed by her professionalism. We needed someone to help us understand all the ins and outs of applying to college, and Allyson was extremely thorough and so helpful to all of us. She accepted some of the challenges we presented with grace, kindness and some much needed tough love. Working with Allyson was an absolute pleasure, and besides the fact that we thoroughly enjoyed it, the results were undeniable. We're so grateful that we were able to work with her, and we highly recommend her to anyone looking to work with the best of the best. The "R" Family.
Alex R., Mother, Irvington, HS, New York, Class of 2025, Son attending University of Florida, Gainesville, Class of 2029
Allyson is
· On the ball
· Concerned when a student is not on pace
· Communicates well with parents (I never felt out of the loop)
· Knows the process inside and out (stuff you can’t get on Youtube)
· Thoughtful and tactful about how to guide students and help students solicit help from others (teachers, counselors, etc.)
We were very pleased that Allyson was part of our child’s application process!
Nicole, L., Mother, Irvington HS, NY, Class of 2025, Son attending University of Michigan, Class of 2029
I have nothing but appreciation for Allyson’s guidance through the college process. Allyson pushed me to my highest potential, and ensured that my applications were perfect before I submitted. She is extremely honest and helped me find the right school for me - from the day I met her, to the day I accepted my admissions offer. Additionally, Allyson does not just wait for you to reach out for help; she is always thinking about all of her students and what they need to do to succeed at all times of the day. Her attention to detail and drive for perfection is really what sets her apart. I am the oldest in my family, so the process was new to us, but I trusted Allyson and knew that she would steer me in the right direction no matter what. I am grateful for all the support Allyson gave me and I am confident that she helped make my applications stronger than I thought they could be.
Jake E., Irvington HS, New York, Class of 2024, University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business, Class of 2028
As a student-athlete, my experience with Allyson was a little different than a typical client's. Allyson assisted me with the pre-read process for various schools this summer and fall, in addition to the personal statement regime, one can expect. While in the end, I only applied to one school, Allyson was helpful thoughout the entire recruitment and application process.
Justin S., Irvington HS, NY, Class of 2024, Williams College, Class of 2028
The whole process of applying to colleges can be overwhelming. Trying to decide what major in which institution, then thinking about location and cost can make the process intimidating. Allyson is extremely knowledgeable. She provided key insight into all colleges and universities I had interest in attending - and the dreaded application process. Allyson's guidance made it possible for me to apply to multiple colleges with confidence. She is an application guru. With Allyson's experience and knowledge of the process, my essays (with multiple reviews and edit suggestions,) were polished. She tailored my thoughts and words and made me stand out as an applicant. With Allyson's expertise, and my academic background I was accepted into multiple universities and honors programs but ultimately decided on Rochester Institute of Technology. Allyson helped me with every facet of the application process, and I don't know if I would have had so many opportunities without her service.
Keith M., City Polytechnic HS of Engineering, Architecture & Technology, NYC, Class of 2024, Rochester Institute of Technology, Class of 2028
I would not have been able to be where I am today without the endless guidance and support that I received from Allyson throughout my entire college application process. Allyson always kept me on top of my work and made sure to push me to my highest potential because she knew how much I could accomplish. I appreciated her honesty and positive criticism in times when I needed it, for she knew how successful I could be. We would go over my essays and application time and time again until we thought it was absolutely perfect. I developed a close relationship with her, and she would always reach out to me throughout the process, for she truly cares about her students and making sure they end up at the right place. If you are willing to put in the work, Allyson will surely do the same for you, as she gives you her full time and attention. I am forever grateful for the guidance I received and would recommend her counseling to anyone who is also looking to accomplish great things in the future!
Nikolina D., Irvington HS, New York, Class of 2024, Northeastern University, Class of 2028
Allyson was amazing as my college counselor! She really helped me figure out what I needed for my applications and made everything feel less overwhelming. She was great at helping me edit all my essays as well as filling out the oftentimes confusing common app. I would never have known how to do it without her help and guidance along the way. In addition, she was alway timely and ready to help when I asked for it. Allyson is a great college counselor and I highly recommend her to anyone seeking guidance, clarity and perpective on the entirety of the college process.
Simone B. Irvington HS, NY, Class of 2024, McGill University, Class of 2028
It was an absolute pleasure working with Allyson throughout the entire college application process. From the initial meeting to our son’s acceptance into his dream school, Allyson’s knowledge, patience, and responsiveness were on display every step of the way. She truly helped manage our family through this very stressful time. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable about each step, but she is quite resourceful about how to navigate this complex and ever-changing college admissions landscape. No question went unanswered, and all thoughts and concerns were always addressed. Our son felt very comfortable working with her and always trusted her advice. Allyson was the perfect fit and her drive influenced him to stay focused on this process and submit the best possible applications; always staying on top of the many deadlines. With her guidance, we knew our son was in excellent hands.
Michele and Chris E., Parents, Irvington HS, New York, Class of 2024, Son attending University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business, Class of 2028
My daughter started working with Allyson the second half of her junior year of high school. She helped her think about how to select classes for her senior year, and the type of summer jobs that would complement her interests. Allyson also researched colleges and made recommendations based on my daughter's interests and qualifications, identifying options that never would have otherwise been on her list. When it came to applying, she worked directly with my daughter and encouraged her to come up with topics for her essay and supplements that really reflected who she was. Allyson was responsive and efficient, working around my daughter's schedule and deadlines. Allyson provided honest and actionable feedback that my daughter was much more receptive to than if it had come from her parents. My daughter's applications were significantly more cohesive and were completed more timely because of her work with Allyson.
Rivertowns Parent, Class of 2024, Elon University, Class of 2028
I cannot even attempt to culminate my gratitude for Allyson's guidance during this process, and I will probably never stop telling people to hire her immediately. She is someone I trust, and found a deep appreciation for, but what I found most special is that Allyson does not settle, even if you already did. She does not settle for anything but your best work. Instead, she helps you revise, re-edit and re-write until YOU know that your best foot is forward. She also does not settle for you if a college turns you down, and continually reaffirms that they are the ones missing out, not you. This not only builds confidence amongst her students, but makes her more impactful than just a college advisor, and is someone all her students can trust, or run to for ANY advice. I am certain that if I ever need her help in the future, she will respond at a moment's notice, ready to do so. I am 100% sure I would never have accomplished what I did without her guidance, insight, and no nonsense attitude, and for that I am SO SO grateful! Thank you Allyson!
Kyli P., Irvington HS, NY, Class of 2023, University of Michigan, Class of 2027
My son worked incredibly well with Allyson. She added structure and a well-defined process to the essay writing, which helped him get past his anxiety of staring at a blank page. Once they started working together, his essay started to take shape in his mind and getting on to the paper seemed to happen pretty effortlessly. But, from my perspective, the best part of Allyson's involvement during the fall was that it allowed me to step back and know that it would be handled without a lot of nagging! We got a great finished product without damaging our relationship!
Marion H. Mother, Hackley School, NY, Class of 2023, Son attending University of Notre Dame, Class of 2027
Throughout the whole process, Allyson had a way of supporting me that pushed me to do my best work. Her reassurance, guidance, and knowledge, helped me form - and feel confident in my applications. Allyson helped bring out my best work in the college process, and pushed me, a big procrastinator to get the work done, both on time and with the highest quality. She was never afraid to tell me what I needed to hear and my applications were much better as a result of her guidance and assistance. I could not have imagined going through the process without her. She is amazing to work with and I would highly recommend working with Allyson for anyone who strives to bring out the best in themselves.
Justin S. Irvington HS, NY, Class of 2023, University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business, Canfield Business Honors Program, Class of 2027
I could never fully express my gratitude for Allyson during the entire college process. I am the oldest of three and the process was very new to myself and my family. With the help of Allyson the process was smoother than ever, allowing my family and me to have minimal stress throughout. Allyson is beyond sympathetic and passionate, she is truly devoted to her students and always strives to have each student accounted for. She helped me understand and fully believe that it "wasn’t based upon whether I am lucky enough to be accepted into the university, but rather if the university is lucky enough to have me as a student.” A quote that truly stuck with me throughout the entire process and allowed me to understand that no matter what I will end up in a place truly best for me. I am SOOO beyond thankful, Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Olivia D. Irvington HS, NY, Class of 2023, Fairfield University, Class of 2027
I can't thank Allyson enough for all her support and guidance throughout the college application process. I had a hard time finding the right school for me, but her patience and knowledge helped me make informed decisions that I'm confident in. I'm so grateful for her help and I couldn't have done it without her.
Olive B. Irvington HS, NY, Class of 2023, McGill University, Class of 2027
Initally, I had minimal knowledge regarding the college application process and could not have successfully done it without Allyson! She provided constant guidance, navigation, knowledge and advice which was essential. These components she possessed, helped with shaping me into a successful applicant.
Allyson is very dedicated and passionate and always believed in me. She precisely and thoughtfully helped me edit each essay, resume, email, resume and piece of information which ultimately was submitted to colleges. Allyson had thorough answers to every single question I asked about the process. She took away all the stress and anxiety of applying to colleges and I truly could not have done it without her. Thank you Allyson!
Kylie H., Dobbs Ferry HS, NY, Class of 2023, Lehigh University, Class of 2027
From start to finish Allyson’s thoughtful and organized plan of how to manage the college application process unfolded in a way that made it efficient and manageable even for a procrastinator like my son. She provided us with a balanced and thoughtful list of schools and programs to explore and consider. Once the application process was underway, Allyson carefully reviewed and assisted my son on the best way to fill out the Common Application, and provided invaluable input and assistance on his personal statement as well as many supplemental essays, honors essays and his resume. Allyson’s insight and guidance were critical in the process and we are already signed up to work with her again for our 2025 graduate.
Rachelle S. Mother, Irvington HS, NY, Class of 2023, Son attending University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business, Canfield Business Honors Program, Class of 2027
Given that the college process is notoriously daunting and stressful, Allyson's guidance was exactly what our family was seeking out. Her vast experience, knowledge and organizational skills helped us tremendously in this arduous process. Creating a college list, suggesting campus visits, helping complete and edit the common app essay and, finally, presenting my daughter's application in the best possible light ultimately made our jobs, as parents, much easier. Allyson also kept my daughter on a strict deadline schedule, which relieved much of the tension as well. Having Allyson as a college advisor was priceless.
Samantha B. Mother, Irvington HS, NY., Class of 2023, Daughter attending McGill University, Montreal, Class of 2027
It has been such a pleasure working with Allyson. Originally, I was terrified of the overwhelming application process; I didn't know where to begin! Allyson guided me through every step and continuously carved out extra time to meet with me about any questions I had. What I loved most about working with Allyson was the way she took time to connect with me personally. She wanted me to find a place where I would not only succeed, but thrive. The connection we built helped me create an outstanding application that was a true reflection of me. Thank you, Allyson, for making this such a smooth process for me. The moment I opened the acceptance letter was the moment I knew that all of this hard work paid off. I wouldn't have been able to do it without your guidance.
Emily K., Sacred Heart Greenwich HS, Class of 2022, Villanova University, Class of 2026
I was very fortunate to have Allyson alongside me, to guide me through the college application process. Having worked with my older brother, I already heard him preach about how incredible and helpful she was with him.
After a month of working with her, I understood what he meant and she had already exceeded all my expectations. One thing that stood out to me about Allyson was how personal she gets with the kids she is helping. Every single time we met, she always asked me how I was doing - and about my life, school, family, personal life, etc. before we ever talked about college stuff. It was always a nice fresh breath of air after being stressed about college work.
She was always there to answer my questions, any time of the day or night and always steered me in the right direction when I didn't know what to do. When it came time to choosing a college, she walked me through each little step and helped me choose the college for me. I would highly recommend Allyson to anyone applying to college.
Peter J., Ardsley HS, NY, Class of 2022, University of Denver, Class of 2026
Trying to find the perfect college is a very tough challenge and is very stressful. I was really stuck on how to go about the process of finding colleges that are great fits for me so I decided to get an advisor. Working with Allyson was extremely helpful, from working with me in finalizing my list of colleges and providing advice for new schools that might have great outcomes that I did not explore yet. She was great in helping me with my applications and my supplemental essays. I could not be happier with my experience working with Allyson. She helped me ease stress about the process of college and I would not be nearly in as good of a spot with my college process without her help.
Brandon A., Dobbs Ferry HS, Class of 2022, Boston College, Class of 2026
We are so grateful we chose Allyson to help us navigate through the college process as she was a fierce, passionate and dedicated advocate for our daughter. She gave us clear cut advice right from the get go. We entrusted her wisdom to inform our decisions throughout the entire process. We walked through each step with a great deal of confidence that I’m certain we wouldn’t have achieved without Allyson’s most valuable and proven guidance.
Bonnie and Peter R., Parents, Irvington HS, Class of 2022, Daughter attending Syracuse University, Newhouse/Whitman Dual Program, Class of 2026
Working with Allyson during my college application process was super helpful. Having her was an essential part of this process, I learned right away. She started me with a guiding list of schools and this propelled my process. I was an athlete going through the recruitment process, but also wanted to attend an academically selective school, so her initial list helped me balance the two very well. Once, I was recruited, she helped make the common app work very easy, and her insight on my essay was key to me being very happy with my essay. Without her I could not have done it, so thank you, thank you Allyson.
Adam S., Dobbs Ferry HS, Class of 2022, Colby College, Class of 2026
Allyson was more than just a source of useful advice. She was authentic. She cared about each small moment in my college process. Not only was she thorough with her knowledge and advice regarding both high school and college, she fought for me. She was always on my side, looking out for my best interest. She believed in me. She fostered my confidence that I needed to ultimately thrive and be the best version of myself as both a student and applicant. Without her helpful tips and guidance, I wouldn't be where I am today.
Sophie R., Irvington HS, Class of 2022, Syracuse University, Newhouse/Whitman Dual Program, Class of 2026
My husband and I were overwhelmed with figuring out where to begin with the entire college application process. From our initial meeting, Allyson exhibited confidence, comfort and a deep knowledge of all aspects of the college process. She connected with our daughter, Emily, in a way I did not anticipate. Emily actually looked forward to her conversations with Allyson and doing the work, as she felt supported, confident, and heard with the direction Allyson was leading her towards. Having Allyson as our advisor took away much of the anxiety and stress of applying to college and allowed us to have a joyful memorable life experience with our daughter. I am incredibly grateful.

Samantha L. Irvington HS, NY, Class of 2022, Brown University, Class of 2026
Going in to the college process, I didn't know what to expect. I had certain goals, but didn't know what I needed to do to achieve them. Working with Allyson made applying to college a much less intimidating task. She explained everything I needed to do and helped me so much in spacing out the work I had. This way, I never felt overwhelmed or rushed. Every essay, resume and piece of information submitted was thoughtfully edited and I felt proud of the application she helped me create. I'm so appreciative that I got to work through this process with Allyson.
Samantha S., Irvington HS, Class of 2021, Vanderbilt University, Class of 2025
Allyson was essential for us to get through the College Application and selection process because we were feeling stressed and overwhelmed and did not understand how to navigate the process. Allyson had the expertise to guide us through the process each step of the way. She was able to engage my son, keep him focused on the next step, which significantly reduced the burden on me. She guided him through the on-line applications, school options, coached him through counselor discussions, identified what the schools are looking for, provided feedback on essays, school interactions and correspondences, and also provided help in understanding school financials. Allyson made the process clear for my son and kept him on track to meet his deadlines. Now he is college ready! I am incredibly pleased with her knowledge, ability to have engaged directly with my son, ability to coach him through each concern and the value she brought to the process.
Jenny J., Mother, Irvington HS, Class of 2021, Son attending University of Connecticut, Class of 2025
We are incredibly thankful for Allyson’s guidance during the college admission process. Since this was our first time through, we were feeling overwhelmed by the enormity of the choices and tasks to be accomplished. Allyson calmed us down right from the start with her pragmatic approach and deep knowledge of all aspects of the process. She initially helped with narrowing down our son’s list to a manageable number of schools that would be a good fit for him. Then she provided a timeline for the coming months to make sure the work would get done at a reasonable pace to meet the fall deadlines, and she also set high expectations that kept him focused without much nagging from us. When it came down to those last few stressful weeks ahead of the November 1 Early Decision deadline, her steady guidance was invaluable with finalizing the essays, navigating the Common Application and related technology, polishing the activity list, and overall, just making sure everything was perfect. In all honesty, I am not sure how our family would have managed this process without her!
Jill V., Mother, Irvington HS, Class of 2021, Son attending New York University, Stern School of Business, Class of 2025
Allyson Felix facilitated a process for our family that is notoriously daunting and stressful. From our first meeting it was clear that Allyson had the experience, assessment skills and ability to guide and engage our daughter to create the most compelling application package possible. As parents, we were included as needed but were gratefully spared involvement in the minutia. Allyson’s partnership with our family was seamless and collaborative. We are so grateful for her guidance and recommend her services wholeheartedly. Thank you Allyson!
Tammy S., Mother, Irvington HS, Class of 2021, Daughter attending Vanderbilt University, Class of 2025
I could not imagine the college process without Allyson's help. There were so many aspects of the process that I didn't know how to do on my own, and I owe a lot of my success throughout the process to her. She helped me a lot with my writing and brainstorming essay topics and ideas. I really appreciate her guidance and advice, which helped me make a lot of difficult decisions and choices throughout the process.
Chloe H., Irvington HS, Class of 2021, University of Texas at Austin, Class of 2025
Graduating high school and applying to colleges is by itself an incredibly stressful ordeal. When I began work with Allyson, I was in a very confused position, with very little true guidance or aid from my school, as well as the global pandemic making the situation even more difficult. Allyson has been an absolutely integral part of my process of getting into college, and without her I believe I would not have been able to have the success that I did with my applications. Thanks to Allyson, I was able to get accepted into the University of Connecticut, a school that before her help I would have assumed to be unattainable. She was there every step of the way, always making sure to help when I was confused, and making time to schedule appointments. The months I have worked with Allyson have helped me evolve into a student that is ready for the rigor of college and the world. She is the best!
Ben T., Irvington HS, Class of 2021, University of Connecticut (UCONN), Class of 2025
Allyson's knowledge and experience with helping students apply to college helped me so much and I am so grateful that I had her by my side during the whole journey. She made the process as stress free as possible by helping me plan out my time to make sure I was getting everything in by the college deadlines. Her experience in coaching supplement writing was extremely beneficial to me. Allyson always helped me to brainstorm great topics to write about and did a wonderful job making suggestions to get my supplements under the maximum word count. It’s clear Allyson knows what colleges are looking for and knows how to help advise her students to present themselves accordingly. I am so glad I got to work with Allyson and now I’m on my way to study at a great university.
Peter G., Dobbs Ferry HS, Class of 2020, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Class of 2024
Very quickly into my college application process I realized how lucky I was to be working with Allyson. She knows how to maneuver all of the applications, interfaces, and websites that I needed--which was important because I knew absolutely none of that. Also, she was a great coach when it came to demonstrated interest and making sure I did everything I could to get into a school that I wanted. When it came to writing my essay, specifically, I felt comfortable sharing my story with her, and she was then able to help me focus on all of the things that would make it as compelling as possible. Besides her knowledge and qualifications, though, Allyson is supportive and understanding, while also being honest and assertive, such that she kept me on track but I also really enjoyed working with her. She encouraged me every step of the way, and simultaneously took the process slow and made it less daunting, which was the best kind of guidance I could have asked for.
Daniel S. Dobbs Ferry HS, Class of 2020, Valedictorian, Tufts University, Class of 2024
Having never gone through the college application process, we had no idea what to expect. Every step of the way, Allyson guided us through the process and provided invaluable advice on how to navigate the long and complicated journey of identifying and applying to the schools that were the best fit for our child. Her understanding of what each school values and how to make the most of the student’s accomplishments is unmatched. In the end, she took the time to understand our child’s strengths and guided him on how to showcase them in ways that would resonate the most with college admissions departments. I highly recommend her counsel and services to anyone who desires to put their best possible foot forward throughout the college application journey.
Ted B., Father, Irvington HS, Class of 2020, Son attending Drexel University, Class of 2024
Working with Allyson Felix was a tremendous help throughout my college process. When I started working with her, I had no idea where I wanted to go, and she quickly helped me make a list and narrow down my options. She made the process much easier than I thought it could be and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to work with her. Every meeting was productive and helpful, and made me reassured about my applications. She consistently helped me refine my essays, paving the way for me to get into Boston College, my first choice school. I could not have imagined going through this process without Allyson and her help!
Clementine W., Irvington HS, Class of 2020, Boston College, Class of 2024
The college process has always seemed daunting to me, especially being the oldest in my family. But Allyson was able to guide me in the right direction way ahead of time so that I would never feel stressed about submitting an application on time or missing a deadline. Her honest feedback was exactly the push I needed in order to refine my essays and her expertise surrounding different schools gave me peace of mind in completely unknown territory. Additionally, she was always available if I was confused or needed help so I knew that I wasn’t going through this alone. I truly would have been lost without her and am so grateful for all she has done for me.
Isabella S., Irvington HS, Class of 2020, Tulane University, Class of 2024
It was terrific to have Allyson Felix lead us through the college admissions process. Every parent can benefit from having someone as focused, caring, persistent, and knowledgeable—about both the schools and the process—as she is in their corner. Our son is very disciplined, but he still needed someone looking over his shoulder, and we did not want it to be one of us. Allyson took on the task masterfully. She helped on so many fronts: honing the school list, the common app, all variety of essays, the SAT/ACT decision, campus visits/follow ups, the alumni interview, timeline tracking, and post-acceptance protocol when he got in ED (!). Thank you, thank you, Allyson.
Carolyn S., Mother, Dobbs Ferry HS, Class of 2020, Son attending Tufts University, Class of 2024
I just wanted to take the time to thank you for everything you have done for me. You were amazing during the college process. You made everything so much easier for me and I really appreciate it. I love how close we became throughout it. Thank you so much!
Brant S. Irvington HS, Class of 2020, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Class of 2024
As a parent going through the college admission process for the first time, I feel so fortunate to have had my child work with Allyson. So much has changed since my husband and I went through the process! Allyson helped with every step of the process and has vast knowledge of what colleges are looking for and where applicants should focus their efforts. She was always available to my child and to us. I really liked that she gave my daughter a roadmap that helped her keep on top of the various elements of the process without any surprises or stressors. Allyson also is great at suggesting colleges that may not be obvious to families, which is what happened with my daughter. If Allyson hadn’t suggested a visit to Tulane, she would not be going there- and very enthusiastically I must say. I can honestly say that the college admissions process was a positive one, particularly in building a closer relationship with my daughter and Allyson played a huge role in that success.
Keira S., Mother, Irvington HS Class of 2020, Daughter attending Tulane University, Class of 2024
Allyson helped me throughout the entire college process. Without her help, I do not know if it would have been the same, or if I would have been accepted where I was. She can take a resume and essay and help you learn how to buff them up to get you into excellent colleges. The college process was way less intimidating with Allyson by my side helping me every step of the way.
Joey K., Irvington HS, Class of 2020, SUNY Binghamton, Class of 2024
Allyson was fantastic in helping us through the college application process. It was our first time and trying to figure out all the moving parts was overwhelming. Allyson guided our son all the way from choosing where to apply, which tests to take, drafting the essay, what to submit for each college to making a final decision. She has deep expertise on all things college-related and we relied on her advice with full confidence. Ultimately our son received multiple scholarship offers and was accepted to almost every school where he applied. But most importantly, Allyson made the process so much less stressful for all of us. Working with Allyson was one of the best decisions we made. We are thrilled.
Heidi W., Mother, Irvington HS, Class of 2020, Son attending Wheaton College, Class of 2024
Allyson Felix was able to help me through the entire college process. From emailing teachers, to writing essays and contacting admission counselors, she was able to explain and guide me through every step. She helped me create the most compelling honest applications that portrayed me in the best possible way. As a result of working together I have been admitted to all my top choice schools.
Ben B. Irvington HS, Class of 2020, Drexel University, Class of 2024
Allyson was a wonderful college advisor for my son, Peter. We had a great experience with Allyson. Hiring her made navigating the college process so clear and stress free. She made sure to communicate with Peter on a regular basis, which kept him on track with application deadlines. We couldn't be happier. Peter was accepted to his dream school!!
Susan G., Mother, Dobbs Ferry HS, Class of 2020, Son attending University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Class of 2024
Having Allyson Felix of Rivertowns College Counseling help me work through the college process has allowed me to reach my potential both as a student and applicant. Her knowledge and insight from essay writing to application submission, combined with her incredibly understanding personality, put me at ease throughout. She took care to make sure I was comfortable with each step forward and that no small details were omitted. When applying to college, everything counts, and she emphasized this. Whether we met or worked via google docs or Skype, it was her priority to take the time to review everything and get back in a timely fashion, and she always did! I would strongly recommend Allyson’s services to anyone who needs assistance in any part of the college process.
Adam S., Greenwich HS, Greenwich, CT. Class of 2019, University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, Class of 2023
Applying to colleges is incredibly stressful for parent and child, and having outside help if possible lowers everyone’s anxiety. Our daughter let us know she was overwhelmed and confused by the Common App at the end of September. We contacted Allyson on the recommendation of someone we respect, and she immediately fit us into her already full schedule. In the first session, she established an easy and trusting rapport with our daughter, and with us. We discussed the schools our daughter had seen, and Allyson suggested others to consider.
In the sessions that followed, Allyson helped our daughter organize and prioritize her school and service activities into a cohesive narrative. It was our daughter’s job, and we were not involved. Allyson set clear expectations for each meeting, and our daughter met them. She expressed confidence in our daughter’s prospects, and enthusiasm for her skills. In particular, Allyson helped our daughter see the challenges in an essay concept that was flawed, and redirected her to go deeper and write from her heart. She seemed to open the door for our daughter to dare to write compelling, genuine applications, and our daughter felt she had done her very best work. She was admitted to the college of her choice with some formidable back up options. And we, her parents, did not have to argue or nag at all.
I would absolutely recommend Allyson’s services. She is thorough, meticulous, supportive, and very responsive. She’s fabulous.
Maura M., Mother, Hastings-on-Hudson High School, Class of 2019, Daughter attending University of Edinburgh, Scotland, Class of 2023
Working with Allyson made the college application process fast, easy and gratifying. From the first meeting, I knew that she would be reliable, detailed, caring and helpful, and each meeting proved these initial instincts to be correct. She helped me finish quickly but never pressured or stressed me out, she gave me guidance with my essay but I never felt as the secondary writer, and she perfected my work while keeping it original to me; she truly is excellent at her job. Each meeting was productive and filled with positive energy making me confident in my work and the future. I couldn’t imagine going through this process without Allyson’s help and, thanks to her, I am overjoyed with the results.
Casey W., Abraham Joshua Heschel HS, New York, NY, Class of 2019, University of Wisconsin - Madison, Class of 2023
When we were deciding whether or not to use a college counselor outside of our high school, I spoke with a friend who utilized Allyson’s services for her girls. After our conversation, I wondered if Allyson had paid her to say such nice things! After all of the nightmare stories you hear, I just couldn’t imagine the process being as smooth as my friend was describing. Now that I’m on the other side, and my daughter is going to one of her top college choices, I can honestly say that Allyson makes what could be a frustrating, overwhelming and stressful process, manageable and seamless.
Allyson is thoughtful about how she approaches each child. She took the time to get to know my daughter so she could really help her personalize her applications. Allyson researched different colleges and many of her suggestions were not “the same old list." She laid out a timeline and communicated directly with my daughter and made sure that she stuck to it (that meant no nagging from mom or dad to complete assignments…it was all on Allyson!)
We were all very impressed with Allyson’s knowledge about what colleges are looking for. She stays on top of the current research and has a handle on what it takes to successfully present oneself to a University.
We are thrilled with the outcome of Allyson’s work with our daughter…so much so that we have hired her again to work with our son!
Tara S., Mother, Irvington HS, Class of 2019, Daughter attending University of Ilinois, Urbana-Champaign, Class of 2023
As I started the college application process, I felt at a disadvantage because my ACT score and grades were not at the high end of the schools I wanted to attend. Allyson was an invaluable resource and great support. Her guidance each step of the way, and expertise on the entire application process helped create a less stressful experience. Ultimately, I got accepted to LMU, my first choice!! I could not have done it without Allyson's help.
Ruby B., Weber HS, Ogden, Utah, Class of 2019, Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, CA., Class of 2023
Allyson was a key piece of the college application puzzle. She listened to my son,
assessed his strengths, weaknesses, and interests, and devised a game plan that he
was comfortable with. She carefully collaborated with him on his essays.
...he has received only acceptances, and I attribute a large part of his success to her.
Jeff S., Father, Greenwich HS, CT. Class of 2019, Son attending University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Class of 2023
Allyson was instrumental for me during my college process. She guided me through all of the steps from finding colleges, to applying and more. I know that without her help, my application would not have been as strong as it was. I am so proud of the work that I did for my essays and supplements and that couldn't have been possible without Allyson! Thank you!
Evangeline M., Hastings HS, Class of 2019, University of Edinburgh, Scotland, Class of 2023
The college process is rather stressful and overwhelming, but Allyson Felix made this process significantly smoother and more comprehensive. I had an idea of where I wanted to go, but she helped narrow down my college list, and she helped find the perfect school for me. She prepared me for many college interviews and helped formulate ideas for my personal and supplemental essays. I am so grateful that I had the pleasure of working with her. She is truly amazing and made the college process so much easier. With her help, I was able to get into my first choice school.
Maya C., Irvington HS, Class of 2019, Bates College, Class of 2023
Going into the college process is extremely stressful. There is so much to do, and it can be hard to figure out where to start. But having Allyson guide me changed the process completely. With her, I knew what I needed to do and by when I needed to do it - at all times. It changed from a stressful burden filled with confusion to a doable plan spread out over the course of a year. She helped me with every part of the process, whether it was asking for recommendations from teachers, or scheduling classes after I was accepted to college. Overall, she made my application process a much more enjoyable experience, and I am very happy with my decision to use her as my college advisor.
Bailey L., Irvington HS, Class of 2019, Tufts University, Biomedical Engineering, Class of 2023
Having Allyson Felix as our college counselor was a great decision! She took the time to get to know our son and encouraged him to take ownership of the college application process. Although this could have been a very stressful time, Allyson helped make it a positive experience. She gave us great advice on how to tackle the process every step of the way, with unique insights into our own school district. She kept our son on schedule and made sure that everything was done ahead of time to help avoid any last-minute panic. She mostly worked directly with our son; however, she was always easily available and receptive to our questions and concerns. We were all thrilled when he got into his first-choice school! I would highly recommend hiring Allyson if you are looking for someone to help your child navigate this process in a way to will help foster confidence and a sense of control.
Marianne L., Mother, Irvington HS, Class of 2019, Son attending Tufts University, Class of 2023
Allyson Felix helped me through the whole college process. She made the process much easier than I ever thought it would be. She taught me how to write perfect supplemental essays and helped to make my college essay the best it could be. She also was very helpful in making a college list and making sure I had enough safety, target, and reach schools. I don’t know where I would have done without her help throughout this whole process. She was a huge asset!
Jessica S., Irvington HS, Class of 2019, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Class of 2023
We got off to a late start in the college selection process for our daughter. All of us quickly realized that we were badly over our heads not only in evaluating the various options, but in getting even a basic handle on the application process. Our ignorance of what would make for a successful application was, if anything, even worse. We were fortunate to have Allyson recommended to us, and even more fortunate to work with her. It took her very little time to “get” our daughter – what she needed, her strengths, and what environment would allow her to thrive. With her help we were able to focus on a manageable list of schools, and at the same time our daughter was given a sensible step-by-step approach to the application process. The outcome? We had an early decision acceptance from her #1 choice before the holidays. I will not say that the whole process was stress-free; it was not. But it went from being chaotic and incomprehensible to an understandable set of questions, tasks and goals. And for our daughter, the experience was a tremendous confidence builder: I believe she is better prepared now to address the similarly overwhelming experience that will await her in the fall.
Michael and Mary-Claire F., Parents, Sleepy Hollow HS, Class of 2018, daughter attending Clark University, Class of 2022
Having Allyson Felix of Rivertown College Counseling help me with the college process was one of the best decisions I've made. Allyson was able to provide me with guidance throughout every step. Her attention to every detail during the application process, along with her experienced advice was very helpful. Going into the college process was very stressful, but Allyson's kind, positive, and determined persona allowed me to relieve this constant stress! She is very experienced and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Allyson's services to anyone who may want support in the college process.
Zoe M., Irvington HS, Class of 2018, Brown University, Class of 2022
Applying to college is extremely stressful, but having Allyson definitely made the process significantly smoother than it would have been otherwise. She was extremely responsive to any and all questions that I had about applications and was always very thoughtful in helping me brainstorm ideas for supplements. I found Allyson to be incredibly knowledgeable, and am so glad that I had her to counsel me through my college applications. I would strongly recommend Allyson to anyone needing guidance through this process; she is extremely helpful!
Katelin P., Hastings-on-Hudson HS, Class of 2018, Wesleyan University, Class of 2022
The best decision I made for my son was hiring Allyson as our college counselor. Although the college process is inherently stressful she was able to alleviate a lot of my worries about the process. Her attention to detail and meticulous nature made the process as quick and painless as it could be. She really took the time to get to know my son and pick the school that matched his personality. She made sure the school would work for him and give him the greatest college experience. My son had a very high academic profile and she was able to find schools that fit his profile and were generous with scholarship money. I will recommend Allyson to anyone going through the college process.
Linda P., Mother, Irvington HS, Class of 2018, son attending Fordham University, Class of 2022, Scholarship recipient.
Working with Allyson Felix throughout my college application process made the whole thing much easier and more comprehensive. At every step she knew exactly what to do and how to respond to whatever essay or supplemental essay question the applications throw at you. She has a massive amount of valuable experience that she brings to the entire college process, and this was evident as she explained how to navigate each website and answer every question. I would highly recommend Allyson and her services to anyone who is looking to expedite their college process, and have a good outcome!
Ben H., Irvington HS, Class of 2018, Purdue University Polytechnic Institute’s Professional Flight program, Class of 2022; AFROTC Scholarship recipient
Allyson worked closely with our daughter throughout the college application process and took a stressful process and made it much more enjoyable for our whole family. Allyson really helped our daughter think through the best ways to present herself as an applicant which definitely helped her differentiate herself and stand-out. Allyson's insights and knowledge of schools, their “hot buttons” and the overall process was invaluable to our daughter and also to us. Her informed and collaborative approach really helped our daughter stay on top of the process and succeed. We could not be happier!
Jeff P., Father, Hastings-on-Hudson HS, Class of 2018, daughter attending Wesleyan University, Class of 2022
Having Allyson Felix as my college counselor was the best decision I could have made. She had extensive knowledge of the college process and was extremely helpful in guiding me through each step. She gave thoughtful advice and was on top of every little detail. Allyson made the college process as pain free and stress free as possible and was a joy to work with. She takes the time to know each client as a person rather than just overseeing the applications. I would highly recommend Allyson to anyone looking for help in the college process.
Will P., Irvington HS, Class of 2018, Fordham University, Class of 2022, Scholarship Recipient
Allyson was incredibly helpful throughout the college search process.I had no idea what kind of schools I was looking for when I began, but she helped me find what was important to me and narrowed down my list. My college essay was much better than it would have been without her assistance, and her work produced results that allowed me to choose the school that I felt was the best fit. I can't wait to start at Maryland and without Allyson, this wouldn't be possible.
Jacob A., Hastings-on-Hudson, Class of 2018, University of Maryland, College Park, Class of 2022
Allyson was an amazing help throughout my experience applying to college. I thought that I understood what I had to do in order to apply and get into colleges, and I was sadly mistaken. She was there every step of the entire process and gave me a plethora of colleges to choose from and look at. She was invested in me and worked tirelessly to make sure that I had everything in on time for EA deadlines. With the stress during the first semester of senior year of high school, she kept assuring me that I was going to get into colleges that I wanted to. One of first-rate characteristics about Allyson is that first and foremost she wanted to make sure that I went to a school in which I could thrive, and have a successful future. Even after the application process, she was always an email, text, or phone call away if I had questions or needed someone to talk to about choosing a college. I would highly recommend Allyson Felix to anyone, no matter what your situation is, and have recommended her to my brother who will be an incoming freshman in high school next year.
Chris J., Ardsley HS, Class of 2018, University of Delaware, Class of 2022
Without question, working with Allyson Felix on the college admissions process was an excellent decision for our family. We knew that many things about the process would be different and more complicated than what we experienced, and her help and guidance at each step was invaluable.
Allyson quickly got to know our son, who had very specific interests and was focused on going to schools with a particular field of study. She proved to be both knowledgeable and insightful about colleges that would be the best fit for him and provided detailed information about each. Allyson was also exceptionally adept at identifying our son’s most outstanding qualities, and expertly helped him highlight those throughout his application materials.
From start to finish, Allyson was both a calming influence and a positive driving force in our son’s college admissions process. We unreservedly recommend her to anyone with a child applying to college!
Tanya and Brad H., Parents, Irvington HS, Class of 2018, son attending Purdue University Polytechnic Institute’s Professional Flight program, Class of 2022; AFROTC scholarship recipient
As a parent of one college student, who now a Junior, had applied directly to one college only and had never even had to fill out a Common Application, I was totally unprepared for the complexities of navigating the college admissions process when my second child wanted to apply to 10 colleges. September of senior year high school arrived and we knew we were way behind schedule. Honestly, as a parent I was overwhelmed and luckily we were fortunate enough to have someone recommend Allyson to us. She stepped right in to guide us through every step, enabling us to meet the very tight timetable of all of our Early Decision, Early Action and regular admission deadlines. She possesses a breadth of knowledge about the college application process and experience with colleges that was invaluable to us and equally as important, she can tailor her expertise to zero in on just what you need help in. In particular she was especially great at helping my child identify and share a story that was uniquely his. She really worked with him to highlight just who he was and what he had accomplished as well as identify best fit colleges. I believe she really helped him stand out and we achieved not only our Early Decision admission but seven other Early Action acceptances along with scholarships. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking to navigate the college process.
Louise E., Mother, Irvington HS, Class of 2018, son attending Syracuse University, direct admission to Whitman Business/S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications combined degree program, Class of 2022
Allyson is amazing! She immediately connected with my son (who actually looked forward to their meetings!). She was easily accessible, and answered each and every question we had with great patience. Any college counselor can come up with a list of schools based on a student’s GPA and ACT scores; what Allyson did was so much more. She got to know my son – both his strengths and his weaknesses – as well as his interests, abilities and passions. Then she mixed all that up, and helped him write an essay that allowed admissions officers to get a sense of who my son is. The result? He was accepted to every school to which he applied except one! My youngest child is a freshman now. We have already reserved a spot with Allyson for his junior year.
Andrea W., Mother, Hastings-on-Hudson, Class of 2018, son attending, University of Maryland, College Park, Class of 2022
Allyson was a godsend! As it has been many years since my husband and went through our college processes and as it is so different now, Allyson knew exactly what had to be done and when. She connected very well with our son and got to know him not only as a student, but also as a person. This information enabled her to bring out of him what he should include in his essays and the best way to word it. She guided him and us every step of the way, suggesting colleges (safety to reach) given his interests, and giving us helpful advice all along the way. We have highly recommended Allyson to our friends and hope to have her help our youngest son when he starts applying to colleges in about 3 years.
Joan and Charles J., Parents, Ardsley HS, Class of 2018, son attending University of Delaware, Class of 2022
I really have to give you all of my thanks because I wouldn’t have applied to USC without your advice, and I wouldn’t have gotten in without your guidance.
Words really cannot express how happy I am for this outcome and I can only say thank you for all of your help! Fight on!
Declan B., Weber HS, Pleasant View, Utah, Class of 2017, University of Southern California (USC), Class of 2021
Allyson has extensive knowledge of the college application process. She was not only able to help me understand the process better but taught me how to showcase my success in a way that made colleges look twice. I am extremely grateful for Allyson’s guidance. I know many brilliant students who were cheated from schools because they were not aware of how to properly approach the college application process, and without Allyson that could have easily been me. Not only was she helpful in filling out the common app but also the UC application, and many other forms including essays for honors programs. Allyson was always available regardless of the time, and working online made revisions easy. Allyson continues to be a valuable resource for me and I am not sure I would have survived the college process without her.
Shannon O'H., Dobbs Ferry HS, Class of 2017, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Class of 2021
Allyson simplified one of the hardest, most timing consuming processes I've ever had to face and I don't know what I would have done without her help! While meeting week after week, she helped develop my ideas into something worthy of submitting to the college board and I will forever be grateful.
Isabella K.,Irvington HS, Class of 2017, Tulane University, Class of 2021
Working with Allyson was one of the best decisions I made during my college application process. The writing process we went through was very natural and casual. She helped me craft the perfect common app personal essay that I would not have been able to write on my own. Her help and experience with college admissions departments also helped me forge a good relationship with my regional admissions director. Allyson helped make my process extremely easy, and I am very excited that I will be attending my top choice school.
Riley C., Irvington HS, Class of 2017, Lafayette University, Class of 2021
Allyson Felix made the college process not only less stressful, but, dare I say, even enjoyable. I had a good first draft of my college essay, but Allyson helped me to make it clean, clear and an easy read. She understands what must be included in a college essay and she knew how to get my essay to be the best it could be. She helped me complete the many College Apps, step by step (rather overwhelming and at times a confusing process). With limited space to encompass an entire being, Allyson helped me turn “limit response to 200 words” responses into a profile that I could be proud of. She knows what colleges are looking for and helped me to present myself as a great candidate for each school. She made me feel confident about my application and I am now planning to attend an amazing college thanks to her help.
Emma C., Irvington HS, Class of 2017, Haverford College, Class of 2021
Going through the college application process can be very stressful. Working with Allyson made everything so much easier. We are very grateful we found such a knowledgeable, kind, helpful person. Allyson definitely gets 5 stars from us! She had first-hand knowledge of many schools on my daughter’s list. She offered expert advice and guidance through the process in a timely manner, always getting back if I had a question or needed support. Her approach was genuine and we felt a great sense of relief after our first meeting with her. My daughter gained confidence and independence in the process with Allyson guiding the way!
Lisa D. Irvington HS Mother, Class of 2017, daughter attending Haverford College, Class of 2021
Working with Allyson made the college process so much easier and less stressful than it would have been. She responds very quickly and thoroughly. She's amazing at what she does and is a HUGE reason that I was successful in this process. I remember going over my Common App application one last time before I submitted it with Allyson and how meticulous she was so that I came off as qualified as possible. Allyson introduced me to schools that I was not thinking about applying to, including the school that I will be attending for the next four years. I'm so excited for college and am so thankful I had the pleasure of working with Allyson.
Juliana K., Irvington HS, Class of 2017, Indiana University at Bloomington, Direct Admission to Kelley Business School, Class of 2021
The best college decision I made for my twin girls was hiring Allyson Felix of Rivertown College Counseling to help advise us through the college process. Allyson got to know each of my children, with their very different interests, personalities and future goals, and helped them determine which schools would be the best match for them. Her attention to detail during the application process and her advice and counsel were invaluable. By developing a timeline and guiding us through the entire process, Allyson created an environment that was truly stress-free. We were convinced that the entire college process would be grueling and nerve-racking and Allyson all but eliminated that! The first time my girls felt any stress was when they were waiting to hear back from the colleges. She was so knowledgable and a complete delight to work with. We highly recommend Allyson's services to anyone that feels they could use support in the college process.
Maria K., Mother, Irvington HS, Class of 2017, daughters attending Indiana University at Bloomington, and Tulane University, Class of 2021
It was not only a pleasure to work with Allyson, but it was invaluable. Allyson was able to connect with my daughter and instill a sense of confidence in the process, which allowed for an effective and simplified consultative experience. Allyson's first hand knowledge of the market place relative to the student was extremely helpful in making timely and smart decisions. What I appreciated most about Allyson was her no-nonsense approach to setting realistic expectations!
Scarsdale HS Father, Class of 2017, daughter attending Rollins College, Class of 2021
I found Allyson Felix through a friend who recommended her, and she became my college advisor who helped me through the process. Allyson immediately impressed me when she set aside hours to work with me just days after I reached out to her. Throughout that time I got done more that I could have in weeks by myself. Not only did she help me find my right fit, but she also assured me that I would be happy regardless of where I ended up, and that there wasn't just one school out there for me. Allyson helped me polish my essays, find extracurricular activities and clubs that I'm interested in, decide on some potential classes I want to take, and much much more. She still constantly texts me to remind me of deadlines for Tulane (the college I am attending) and to stay in touch. I am so happy that I had Allyson throughout the college process and I recommend her to anyone who is applying to schools.
Natalie M., Hastings HS, Class of 2017, Tulane University, Class of 2021
The best decision I made was working with Allyson Felix. Allyson was extremely helpful with my daughters college application process. She was personable and easily connected with my daughter. Allyson assisted in editing my daughter's college essay, she went through all her college applications, organized, prioritized and refined each section emphasizing her strengths and accomplishments. Working with Allyson made an overwhelming process manageable. Her knowledge and insight of the application and the process helped to reduce anxiety and embrace the entire experience. Her ability to work on google docs made revisions easy and limited the need to meet frequently. From the first conversation to the final decision making process, Allyson was always available and willing to guide and redirect us. She helped my daughter take greater responsibility for the next step of her Education. I would highly recommend working with Allyson, my only regret was not starting earlier in the summer between Junior and Senior year!
Dobbs Ferry HS Mother, Class of 2017, daughter attending UCLA, Class of 2021
Mrs. Felix clearly has years of experience and knows what to expect from just about every school, and what to expect from the student. Based on my credentials, she was able to identify my chances for a given school, keeping my expectations in check, and of course celebrated my triumphs and consoled me in my rejections. When I got deferred from a school, she had suggestions as to how to reach out to them to give me the best chance at getting accepted, based on her long immersion in the field. Everything about working with Allyson was easy, and a pleasure. I cannot thank her enough for all her help.
Nick P., Irvington HS, Class of 2016, Duke University, Class of 2020
During the summer before my Senior year, I began working with Allyson. She began our engagement by meeting with me one-on-one and going over all the different possibilities for essays that could potentially give me an edge at getting into my “dream school,” Tulane. After presenting her with my unfinished and relatively basic ideas, she was able to work my experiences into a functioning and cohesive writing supplement that would make me stand out among thousands of competing candidates. She continually gave me tips and advice on how to interact with the admissions department at Tulane, something my parents could not provide. At first I saw the college supplemental essays as a daunting task, but with the quick turnaround and constant feedback between Allyson and myself, I was able to get through the process with little to no stress. On the ten plus essays that I worked on with Allyson, I felt she pushed me to improve in all areas, especially in strengthening my voice as a writer, and making my essay come alive. I would highly recommend Allyson to anyone who wants an edge in the college admissions process. I believe Mrs. Felix is your best choice, and I can say that because I experienced it first hand. Not only is she is very understanding, friendly and easy to talk to, but her skills and experience made me a substantially stronger applicant.
Louis L., Irvington HS, Class of 2016, Tulane University, Class of 2020
We originally retained Allyson to assist with the Common App Essay and were so impressed with her knowledge and talent, that we expanded her role to include several supplemental essays as well. Our only regret is that we didn’t get her involved earlier in the process. Allyson is extremely responsive and was always quick to give us answers to our specific questions but often went beyond our requests, providing information that we didn’t even realize we needed. My son was accepted to his college of choice and I truly believe that Allyson contributed to that outcome. I would highly recommend working with Allyson during the college application process. She knows how to deftly navigate the sometimes confusing course to acceptance at schools with very competitive admissions requirements and is an invaluable resource of critical information. I have heard horror stories from other parents that have hired college advisors who did not deliver on their promises, which can be a devastating blow when such an important goal is at stake. I can honestly say that Allyson exceeded our expectations and was a pleasure to work with every step of the way.
Irvington HS Mother, Class of 2016, son attending Tulane University, Class of 2020
I have known Allyson for the past five years, and have come to realize just how resourceful and helpful she is. Most recently she has worked with me on my cover letters and resumes, and in each case the results have been excellent! Allyson never changed my accomplishments or the tone in my letters but she has a real talent and knack for knowing what works, and how to emphasize and highlight talent and experience. Her outcomes are all targeted, polished, highly-effective documents. Allyson is a wonderful, kind, and efficient professional, and one that I know I will call on for years to come.
Keren, L., Byram Hills HS (Armonk), Class of 2012, Indiana University at Bloomington, Class of 2016
I found Allyson's services to be very helpful. She not only provided guidance with my common application essay and other college's supplemental essays, but she helped me fill out each aspect of the application to ensure schools would be able to recognize the best aspects of me. She was extremely accommodating and also helped me decide which schools would be the best fit for me. With Allyson's help I'll be attending a school I'm in love with.

My experience with Allyson was very professional. I am the kind of mom that needs to be involved, almost to a fault. Allyson kept me in check, which in return let my daughter own her college process with confidence. She has been accepted to the College of her choice and is over the moon.
